Meet our Pastor
Father Brian Bufford
|
Father Brian Bufford has been the pastor of St. Gerard Catholic Church since July 1st, 2020.
Born and raised in the small, close-knit town of Washington, GA, Father Brian felt a calling to the priesthood from a young age. His journey began in fourth grade when he expressed an interest in becoming an altar boy. He served at Purification Catholic Church in Sharon, GA and at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Washington, GA. He cherished the opportunity to form a personal connection with the pastor. As he grew, his sense of calling deepened, and parishioners often remarked on his potential for the priesthood. Before applying to seminary, Father Brian explored other paths to ensure his calling was genuine. He earned a degree in accounting from Augusta State University and worked in the field for a while. However, the call to priesthood remained strong, and he ultimately decided to take the leap and enter seminary. Once he made that decision, everything seemed to fall into place, from the application process to his acceptance. Father Brian was accepted as a seminarian for the Archdiocese of Atlanta and entered Mundelein Seminary. On July 27, 2015, he was ordained a priest. After his ordination, Father Brian served in various parishes, including Transfiguration Catholic Church and St. Peter Chanel Catholic Church, and has now been serving as the pastor of St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church since 2015. He loves his life as a priest and works hard to build a parish family centered on the teachings of the Gospels. In his free time, Father Brian enjoys reading, walking, biking, watching movies, and spending time with family. |
