From the Pastor's Desk

January 11th, 2026
Living out our baptism as God’s children and embracing our true identity and dignity is essential for developing high self-esteem. Here are ten ways to embody this beautiful calling within your family and community:

1. Embrace Your Identity in Christ:
Acknowledge that through baptism, you are made a child of God. Remind yourself and your family of this identity regularly, fostering an understanding of your worth and dignity as beloved ones of God.

2. Practice Gratitude:
Cultivate a habit of gratitude by regularly reflecting on and sharing the blessings in your lives. Recognizing God’s presence and provisions builds self-esteem and strengthens your family’s bond.

3. Engage in Prayer Together:
Make prayer a central part of your family life. Regularly pray together to nurture your relationship with God, encouraging each member to express their true selves and needs to the Lord.

4. Model Forgiveness:
Embrace a spirit of forgiveness within your family, just as God forgives us. Teach and practice forgiveness to maintain harmony and reinforce the understanding that we all make mistakes and are deserving of love.

5. Serve Others:
Engage in acts of service as a family, whether through volunteer work, helping neighbors, or supporting those in need. Serving reflects God’s love and enhances self-esteem by demonstrating how you can positively impact others.

6. Create a Supportive Environment:
Foster a nurturing home atmosphere where each family member feels safe and valued. Encourage open communication about feelings and experiences, reinforcing that everyone is heard and respected.

7. Invest in Spiritual Growth:
Encourage participation in faith-based activities, such as attending Mass, joining Bible studies, or participating in church events. Engaging in spiritual growth strengthens your identity as God’s children and builds confidence.

8. Celebrate Individuality:
Acknowledge and celebrate each family member’s unique gifts and talents. Encourage pursuits that foster personal growth, helping everyone recognize their strengths as part of God’s divine plan.

9. Practice Kindness and Compassion:
Demonstrate kindness not only within your family but also to others. Live out the commandment to love your neighbor as yourself, reinforcing the idea that dignity is rooted in compassion.

10. Reflect on Scripture:
Incorporate daily or weekly scripture reflections into your family routine. Reading and discussing God’s word as a family instills truth about your identity and helps reinforce your self-worth as sons and daughters of God.

By implementing these practices, you can effectively live out your baptismal identity, recognizing your dignity as God’s children while fostering a loving, supportive family environment that encourages high self-esteem.
