Who We Are:
The Powerteen program provides religious education for teens in grades 6 - 8.
What We Do:
We have classroom instruction and discussion, social events, Archdiocesan functions and service projects. Classes are followed by lunches provided by parent volunteers. Some of our annual events include the Youth Rally in Atlanta, Catholic Youth Day at Six Flags Over Georgia, and adopting needy families at Christmas. We also enjoy social outings like bowling and parties as well. Instruction is based on Holy Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church and discussion and interaction is encouraged. Volunteers or "core members" facilitate the lessons with the teens also taking active roles. Interested volunteers for this ministry know that the middle school years are one of the most challenging times in the life of our teens and are willing to serve as teachers, mentors, and friends for the kids in this program. Regular attendance is essential.
When We Serve:
Classes meet on Sunday after the 11:00 a.m. Mass, following lunch. The calendar follows that of the local public school system, with breaks in the fall, spring, and at Christmas.
