Who We Are:
The Lifeteen Youth Ministry began in 1985 at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Mesa, Arizona to meet the spiritual needs of Catholic teens. From there, it has grown to a ministry reaching Catholic teens all over the world. The mission of Lifeteen is "Leading Teens Closer to Christ" and is centered on experiencing Christ--Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity-- in the Holy Eucharist. At St. Gerard, the Lifeteen Youth Ministry began in 1997 and has ministered to hundreds of teenagers. Our goal, as youth ministers, is to lead teens closer to Christ through teaching the truth of Holy Scripture and Catholic teaching, while building relations on retreats and at social events.
What We Do:
Classroom instruction and discussion, as well as service projects and social events prepare our highschoolers to lead Christian lives in today's world. Regular attendance in the Lifeteen program is required for teens preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Volunteers interested in serving in this program are called "core members" and serve as teachers, mentors and role models for the youth of the program.
When We Serve:
Classes meet each Sunday following the 11:00 a.m. Mass and after lunch provided by our parent volunteers. The schedule follows that of the local public school system and includes breaks in the fall, spring, and at Christmas. Classes are usually over by 2:00 p.m.
